Description
Bublik began playing tennis at age 2, coached and guided by his father in his developmental years. His professional career began in 2016 and with some formidable results across futures, challengers and several ATP tour-level events, Bublik rose over 600 places in the world rankings. His biggest result during his debut season was an emphatic victory over then World No. 13 Roberto Bautista Agut at the Kremlin Cup in Moscow, where he reached the quarterfinals as a qualifier. In 2017, Bublik accomplished an early milestone, breaking into the top 100, after winning his first challenger title and earning main draw spots in both the Australian Open and Wimbledon, where he was seen on global broadcast taking on Andy Murray on Centre Court. In 2019 Bublik reached two tour-level finals for the first time at Newport and Chengdu, landing him inside the top 50 to end the year. In early 2020, he and compatriot Kukushkin reached the semifinal in doubles of the Australian Open. His season was highlighted with by a massive win over then World No. 9 Gael Monfils on the red clay at Roland Garros. In 2021, Bublik posted a personal best 35 wins on tour, including quarterfinal appearances at the ATP Masters 1000 level in Madrid and Miami. In doubles, he and countryman Andrey Golubev reached the French Open final. Bublik’s first ATP trophy came a year later in Montpellier, playing in his 5th tour-level final, defeating Alexander Zverev (World No. 3 at the time) in straight sets. This achievement landed him a career-high of World No. 30. Bublik's next goal will be to crack the top 20 with a strong start to the season in Australia!
